Breaking News Thursday, September 10th, 1936: Vivcinco Named TEXAAA's #1 Hurler Socks Vivcinco had a spectacular year for Lubbock in 1936, putting up 23 wins for the Lava to walk away with the South Outstanding Pitcher Award trophy. He finished the season with a 23-11 mark, 283 strikeouts and a 2.81 ERA. In 54 starts Vivcinco surrendered 307 hits and 123 walks in 378.1 innings on the mound. This weekend he will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. Friday, August 14th, 1936: Saturday, August 1st, 1936: July's #1 Hurler Announced - Vivcinco Winner The South made it official today -- Socks Vivcinco of the Lubbock Lava is the Pitcher of the Month. In July he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters. Vivcinco made 11 starts, registered 6 wins and 3 losses with a solid 2.39 ERA. In 79 innings he allowed 63 hits, racked up 58 strikeouts, walked 24 and permitted teams to hit .220 against him.
