| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 11th, 1936: TEXAAA's Premier Hitter for 1936 Named It was a season to remember for Curt Isales. He was one of the most dangerous men in league when he had a bat in his hand and the South announced today that he had won the Outstanding Hitter Award for the year 1936.
The Coacalco left fielder shellshocked opposing moundsmen with a .335 batting average, 27 doubles, 5 triples, 9 home runs and 69 RBIs while compiling a .488 on-base percentage and scoring 79 runs.
The annual SBWA awards banquet is this weekend. All of the major award winners will be there to be honored for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Tuesday, August 18th, 1936: Marecle Hurt, Out of Lineup 7 Months "I'm frustrated right now," said Coacalco reliever Lowry Marecle. "I can't help this team by sitting on the bench or in the training room." Unfortunately for the Whipsaws, that's where he will be spending the next 7 months. Marecle suffered a fractured elbow in today's game against Lubbock while throwing a pitch. "Believe me," he said, "I won't be out a day longer than I have to be."
His record up to now is 6-and-5 with 7 saves and a 3.81 ERA. Marecle has given up 89 hits in 85 innings with 40 strikeouts. |  | Monday, August 17th, 1936: TEXAAA Player of the Week Named Freddie Bazaidua must have thought he was dreaming. First he went on an exceptional week-long batting spree, bashing the ball at a .435 clip, then the Coacalco left fielder finds outs he has been chosen the league's best performer and gets the TEXAAA Player of the Week Award.
He told TSW reporters in the postgame, "It was a great week for me. I could see the ball so well. Plus some of the balls seemed to have good eyes, too."
For the week Bazaidua batted .435 (10-23) with 1 home run and 5 RBIs.
