| Breaking News |  | Friday, August 28th, 1936: Gun Barrel City Wins Round 1! The 1936 Round 1 is history and the TEX Triple A has added another champion to its record book.
Gun Barrel City prevailed over Kayenta today and wrote their names in it with a 7-6 victory at Forbes Field. It was the Homesteads 1st time to claim the title.
They compiled a 77-53 regular season record and finished up in the first spot in the South pennant chase. |  | Sunday, August 23rd, 1936: Malabe Fires Shutout in Warthogs Win Jesús Malabe was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He blanked the Gun Barrel City Homesteads 5-0 on 2 hits and had 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.
"You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," the Gun Barrel City skipper told reporters after the shutout loss to the Kayenta Warthogs.
"He just had a real deceiving fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
This season to date Malabe has a record of 15 wins and 5 losses with a 3.89 ERA, has appeared in 30 games and struck out 47 in 171 innings. |  | Wednesday, August 19th, 1936: Lominchar Struts Stuff in Galveston Win In a sharp 5-hit performance, Jesús Lominchar tossed the Kayenta Warthogs to a 7-0 shutout victory over the Galveston Buccaneers, fanning 3 and walking 1.
"That's as good a stuff as I've seen in a long time," the Galveston manager said in his postgame interview.
