Saturday, April 3rd, 1937: 5-5 Game for Crump
Who needs batting practice? Oliver Crump of Hot Springs apparently doesn't as he battered Houma with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 12-2 win.

He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?"

O. Crump singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 7th.

Over the past week, Jigger Hood has feasted on East pitching. Today the Hot Springs Wolverines third baseman gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.
