| Breaking News | | Friday, April 2nd, 1937: 5-Hit Barrage by Marshall It was a sensational day at the plate for Garrett Marshall, but a letdown as well as the Speed Demons dropped the game 3-2 to the Dynamos.
Nonetheless the Takoma Park catcher was pure misery for the Central Somers pitching staff. He left them shellshocked with 5 hits in 5 at-bats in an explosive display of hitting.
"It's always good to get a bunch of hits in a game, but you also want to win. That's the important thing," Marshall said.
The manager of the Dynamos told BNN reporters after the game, "Marshall put the ball into play. He really hit it hard. When you do that, you've got a pretty good chance to do some damage. And that's what happened. I feel like we threw him some pretty good pitches, but he just put some good swings on the ball."
G. Marshall singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off B. James in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off B. James in the 9th.
| | Saturday, August 22nd, 1936: Saville Wants to Leave Speed Demons It appears to be only a rumor, but earlier today, fans around Takoma Park were buzzing with the news that their 29-year old third baseman Duster Saville had been asking for a trade. "I couldn't imagine him saying bad things about Takoma Park or wanting to leave." said one person. | | Thursday, August 20th, 1936: 5-5 Day for Eberhart Today at Speed Demons Ballpark Enoch Eberhart put on an impressive display of hitting -- the Takoma Park catcher tagged Central Somers pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats, but his teammates were unable to capitalize on his batting spree and lost the game to the Dynamos by the score of 8-7.
"Hey, the loss takes some of the joy out of it, but I'll take it. 5-5 ain't bad in any league."
Despite the terrific performance, Eberhart remained somewhat somber. "Sure, I'm happy with my performance today," he was quoted as saying in the locker room, "But all that really matters in this game is that number in the win column. We just didn't get it done today."
E. Eberhart doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.
This season Eberhart is hitting .261 with 2 home runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 1-3, .250 PCT | | Position in Division | 5th, 3.0 GB | | Record at home | 0-2, .000 PCT | | Record on the road | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 1-0, 1.000 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 1-1, .500 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 0-0, .000 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 1-3, .250 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 1-3, .250 PCT | | Record in April | 1-3, .250 PCT |
