| Breaking News | | Monday, September 7th, 1936: Holland Holds Sports Scoreless The Nashville manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
He was talking about Hugo Holland, who had just hurled a fine 5-hit shutout over the Shreveport Sports. He had 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in the Nashville 11-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," the Shreveport manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
Holland has made 31 starts this season, posting 15 wins and 9 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .239 against him and he has 91 strikeouts in 218 innings with a 2.52 ERA. | | Saturday, August 29th, 1936: Noon Day-to-Day with Injury Vols star shortstop Boo Noon may be sitting it out a few days after he picked up an injury in yesterday's game against the Birmingham Barons. He sustained a concussion while running the bases. Noon isn't expected to miss a lot of time. However, doctors want to be cautious. They said he would be day-to-day for about 1-2 weeks.
A look at his season totals shows Noon with 11 home runs, .307 BA, .395 OBP, 37 RBIs and 52 runs scored. | | Tuesday, August 25th, 1936: Latimer Expresses Desire to Leave Vols?
