Monday, September 7th, 1936: Holland Holds Sports Scoreless
The Nashville manager told reporters after the game, "When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy. The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."

He was talking about Hugo Holland, who had just hurled a fine 5-hit shutout over the Shreveport Sports. He had 2 strikeouts and 1 walk in the Nashville 11-0 victory.

"An outstanding job," the Shreveport manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."

Holland has made 31 starts this season, posting 15 wins and 9 losses. Opposing clubs are batting .239 against him and he has 91 strikeouts in 218 innings with a 2.52 ERA.
Saturday, August 29th, 1936: Noon Day-to-Day with Injury
Vols star shortstop Boo Noon may be sitting it out a few days after he picked up an injury in yesterday's game against the Birmingham Barons. He sustained a concussion while running the bases. Noon isn't expected to miss a lot of time. However, doctors want to be cautious. They said he would be day-to-day for about 1-2 weeks.

A look at his season totals shows Noon with 11 home runs, .307 BA, .395 OBP, 37 RBIs and 52 runs scored.
Tuesday, August 25th, 1936: Latimer Expresses Desire to Leave Vols?
"Don't believe everything you hear." was the word from the team's ownership group after rumors of Cap Latimer wanting out of Nashville surfaced late yesterday. No one knows exactly how this news broke and Latimer laughed it off when told of the story.
