| Breaking News |  | Monday, August 31st, 1936: Mobile's Brower SA Star of the Week Henry Brower of the Mobile Bears was locked in all week as he bullied the West pitchers he faced. Brower put up some great numbers and hauled in the West Player of the Week trophy.
He hit .538 with 2 home runs and 11 RBIs. The 29-year-old right fielder also scored 6 runs and for the week went 14-26.
This season Brower is swinging the bat at a .333 rate with 158 hits in 474 at-bats. To date he has hit 10 home runs, scored 93 runs and driven in 67. |  | Thursday, August 27th, 1936: Brower Socks It to Lookouts, Cracks 5 Hits During a player's career, there are days that stand out, and this day was definitely special! Henry Brower went 5 for 5 against the Chattanooga Lookouts at Mobile Grounds and the Bears picked up a 15-6 victory.
He exclaimed, "What a day! We win and I get 5 hits! Couldn't be better!" The delighted right fielder was really enjoying the happiness of the moment in the press room.
"He was patient up there today," the Mobile skipper told the press after the game. "I like the way he waited for his pitch and wasn't overly agressive. Brower has a tendency to go after some bad balls sometimes."
H. Brower hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 8th and hit a two-run home run off J. Yates in the 9th.
This season Brower is batting .333 with 10 home runs. |  | Thursday, August 20th, 1936: Race Tosses Shutout Larence Race of the Nashville Vols was one tough customer on the hill today. He blanked the Mobile Bears 4-0 on 6 hits, registering 1 strikeout and 1 walk.
"When he's on, he's tough to hit," said the Mobile manager after the game. "He's just a bulldog out there."
