 | Friday, September 11th, 1936: Mckinzie Hurt, Out of Lineup One Week
After the end of today's game between Memphis and Shreveport, Dad Mckinzie skipped the clubhouse and headed straight for the doctor's office. After he was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing the ball, the Chicks had their worst fears confirmed when it turned out to be more serious. The starting pitcher will miss at least one week with a damaged meniscus.
To date this year, Mckinzie shows a 20-8 record, 32 starts, 221 innings, 77 strikeouts and a 3.46 ERA.

 | Monday, September 7th, 1936: Elwood Malone Out for 1-2 Weeks
Elwood Malone at first refused to leave today's Mobile-Memphis game after he suffered dead arm syndrome while throwing a pitch. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I'm a competitor," the feisty Memphis reliever said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Malone out of action for 1-2 weeks.
Crunching the numbers on Malone for the year, he has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 15-12 won-lost mark and 4.64 ERA. In pitching 256 innings, he has totaled 117 strikeouts and 155 walks.
