Tuesday, September 8th, 1936: Rumors Swirling in Little Rock; Blessing Wants Out
Allegedly, Catfish Blessing has asked to be traded from Little Rock. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.
Monday, September 7th, 1936: SA Awards Player of the Week Trophy
Major Harrison made quite a splash in the West this past week. The Little Rock Travelers left fielder drilled opposing pitchers for 10 hits in 17 at-bats to roll up a .588 batting average and the West Player of the Week Award.

He also contributed 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and 6 runs scored to his club's offensive attack.

Harrison on the season is batting .267 with 10 home runs. His totals include 74 RBIs and 66 runs scored. He has played in 134 games.
Thursday, September 3rd, 1936: Mabry Rips Little Rock for 5 Hits
If the Little Rock Travelers know how best to pitch the Memphis third baseman Gabby Mabry they didn't tip their hand today. Instead Mabry showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Travelers pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Chicks to a 16-9 triumph at Russwood Park.

He told TSW reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."

The Little Rock skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."

G. Mabry hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off M. Matteson in the 8th.

Looking at his 1936 season stats, Mabry has compiled a .311 batting average in 85 games with a .364 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 36 runs.
