Instead Mabry showed he knew how best to hit them as he easily handled Travelers pitching, going 5 for 5 and helping the Chicks to a 16-9 triumph at Russwood Park.
He told TSW reporters in the postgame interview, "The way I was swinging today, I think I could have closed my eyes and hit the ball."
The Little Rock skipper quipped, "Well, the next time we may just do that...blindfold him...and then pitch him differently, just to be sure."
G. Mabry hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 4th, singled in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off M. Matteson in the 8th.
Looking at his 1936 season stats, Mabry has compiled a .311 batting average in 85 games with a .364 on-base percentage, while hitting 1 home run and driving in 36 runs. | | | | Team Information | | Record overall | 63-91, .409 PCT | | Position in Division | 6th, 49.0 GB | | Record at home | 32-45, .416 PCT | | Record on the road | 31-46, .403 PCT | | Record in X-inning games | 10-10, .500 PCT | | Record in one-run games | 18-23, .439 PCT | | Record versus LHP | 11-19, .367 PCT | | Record versus RHP | 52-72, .419 PCT | | Record last 10 games | 3-7, .300 PCT | | Record in April | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in May | 13-15, .464 PCT | | Record in June | 12-15, .444 PCT | | Record in July | 6-21, .222 PCT | | Record in August | 13-14, .481 PCT | | Record in September | 6-12, .333 PCT |
