| Monday, August 10th, 1936: Week's Outstanding Performer Announced
Idus Roeder drew on his youthful energy and pitching skill to win North Player of the Week honors last week.
The Springetts Manor-Yorklyn Sabres pitcher registered 2 wins and no losses, 0.53 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 17 innings to sew up the award. The 25-year-old also held opposing hitters to 6 hits and a .105 batting average.
This season Roeder has compiled a 17-6 record with a 1.88 ERA.

| Sunday, August 2nd, 1936: Roeder Tames Jawbreakers
"That's one thing that has never changed in this game -- pitching can control hitting," the Sabres manager told reporters after today's game.
The Jawbreakers ran into a buzzsaw as Idus Roeder cut them down to size 6-0 with a 2-hit shutout.
His skipper added, "He knows exactly what he's doing. He's not going to throw you a good pitch until you make him throw one."
In the complete game whitewash the Springetts Manor-Yorklyn hurler doled out 1 walk and registered 8 strikeouts.
In the postgame press conference his catcher said, "Idus goes out there and just goes about his business. I don't think he gets too concerned about what's going on. You can call any pitch and you know where he's going to be."
Roeder also got some praise from the Narragansett Pier manager.
"He really kept us in check today. Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away... we took some pathetic swings."
In 23 starts this season, Roeder has recorded 16 wins and absorbed 6 losses. He has pitched 183.1 innings, allowed 138 hits, struck out 70 and has a 1.91 ERA.
