Breaking News Tuesday, September 29th, 1936: Reds Win! Reds Win! It was a hard fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes -- to the victors go the spoils. Mission got the Pacific Coast League Coast Series trophy today with a 3-2 victory over Vernon at Seals Stadium. The Reds won their 1st championship after taking the series with the Tigers 4-3. "They've got grit!" one fan told SION, "They know how to win when they have to. They're the League Champions!" The new titleholders completed the regular season with a first place finish in the South and a 93-61 won-loss record. He pounded out a .520 average and was voted the Player of the Week. Over the last week Handy connected for 13 hits in 25 at-bats and 1 home run, drove in 4 runs and scored 9 times.
