 | Tuesday, September 1st, 1936: PCL Selects Davies August's #1 Pitcher
An outstanding 6-0 record in August earned Frenchy Davies the Pitcher of the Month Award in the South. When his name was penciled in to start on the San Diego lineup card, it meant trouble for opposing teams.
In 62 innings of work, Davies limited opposing batters to 67 base hits and a .269 batting average. He notched 37 strikeouts, issued 16 walks and had a 1.89 ERA.
This season Davies has 24 wins and 8 losses and a 3.44 ERA.

 | Monday, August 24th, 1936: PCL Trophy Goes to Finley of San Diego
It was a week to remember for Willy Finley. After wrapping up a torrid week at the plate, the San Diego Padres third baseman was named the South Player of the Week.
Finley collected 12 hits in 21 at-bats for a .571 average. He also accounted for 8 RBIs, 1 home run and scored 10 runs.
Finley is batting .312 this year with 11 home runs, 67 RBIs and 109 runs scored. He has 149 hits in 478 at-bats.
