Tuesday, September 1st, 1936: PCL Spotlight Shines on Rookie Star
Buzz Currier was toddling around on his tricycle when some of the guys he's playing against were in their prime, but the 21-year-old shortstop definitely knows how to get to first, second or beyond. Today he was chosen August's South Rookie of the Month for his remarkable month of hitting.

In 26 games Currier batted .367 for San Francisco, slapping 33 hits in 90 at-bats with no home runs, drove in 7 runs and scored 9 times.

So far this year Currier has hit .326 with 1 home run, 26 RBIs and scored 29 runs.
Sunday, August 23rd, 1936: 5-Hit Game for DeLong!
"It was almost like batting practice. I saw the ball very well and could just about hit it anywhere I wanted." That's what Hollywood left fielder Hensley DeLong said to SION reporters after his fantastic 5-5 day against the San Francisco Seals at Gilmore Field. "I got some good counts and used the whole field."

The Stars had a good day, too, and won the ballgame 17-4.

H. DeLong singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and hit a two-run single in the 7th.

In the current season, DeLong has put up a .306 batting average with 149 hits, 16 home runs, 72 RBIs and scored 98 times.
