| Breaking News |  | Friday, September 11th, 1936: Red-Hot Palmer Scorches Indians
Augie Palmer really sizzled at the plate in today's 10-7 win over Indians. The Portland right fielder blistered Spokane for 5 hits in 5 at-bats.
"Palmer was too tough to get out today," the Indians skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too."
A. Palmer hit an RBI double in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and singled in the 9th.
This year Palmer is batting .358 with 5 home runs and 79 RBIs. In 140 games he has scored 100 times.

 | Tuesday, September 1st, 1936: Simon Voted August's Rookie Award
The top-rated North rookie in August was Portland's shortstop Levi Simon.
Last month he played in 28 games and hit .223 with 3 doubles, 1 triple and no home runs. Simon also scored 6 times and drove in 6 runs.
This year Simon is batting .244 with 62 hits and no home runs. He has scored 32 times and has batted in 24 runs.

Veteran John Musgrove put together quite a successful stretch in August for the Portland Beavers, earning himself the North Pitcher of the Month award.
Musgrove racked up a 6-1 record in 8 starts, posting a 3.08 ERA over 61.1 innings and striking out 22.
To date Musgrove is 20-13 in 40 starts with a 3.85 ERA and has 128 strikeouts in 275.2 innings.
