| Breaking News |  | Monday, September 28th, 1936: Habana Wins! Habana Wins! The Habana Leones concluded the season in grand fashion -- they won the Latino Association Carribean Championship. They nailed it down at La Tropical by whipping the Escogido Leones 9-1 to win it all. They took the series 4-2.
Their motto for the season was "Win or Die Trying".
"They never let up and they never stopped trying the whole season," the Leones manager proudly told reporters. "They hustled and fought the whole season and it continued in the playoffs. They are a very special bunch of guys."
To get their 1st league crown, the Leones finished up the regular season in the Atlantic with a 99-55 record, ending up in first place in the division standings. |  | Thursday, September 24th, 1936: Escogido Shut Out by Rodrguez "I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Miguel Rodrguez said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
The Habana hurler scored a 1-0 shutout victory over the Leones, stopping them on 5 hits. He rung up 2 strikeouts and gave up no walks in today's performance.
This season-to-date Rodrguez has 19 wins and 10 losses and a 2.53 ERA. |  | Thursday, September 10th, 1936: Habana Retains Morn The latest out of Habana indicates that Julián Morn has re-signed with the Leones and that the 25-year-old catcher is set to earn $120,200 over a 3-year span.
Team officials tell SION the deal will be officially announced at a press conference tomorrow.
