Sunday, September 13th, 1936: Lee Pitches Brewers to Shutout Victory
"I hope we miss him next time," the Columbus manager said. "Lee certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."

The Milwaukee starter tamed the Columbus Red Birds 1-0 with a 3-hit shutout, finishing the game with 1 strikeout and 3 walks in a sharp outing.

"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Lee said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."

This year Lee has 14 wins and 26 losses and a 5.20 ERA.
Thursday, September 10th, 1936: Sanders Humbles Milwaukee
Charleston starter John Sanders really did a number on the Brewers today, shutting them out 3-0 on 6 hits in a complete game victory. He issued no walks and had 5 strikeouts.

In his postgame comments, the Milwaukee manager said, "We didn't have good at-bats. I don't make excuses, but when we were playing the game, our energy didn't show. That comes from either extremely good pitching or extremely lousy hitting... seeing as our team has a bunch of pretty good hitters, I have to tip my cap to John... he did an outstanding job today."

His record in 1936 is 20-18 in 46 starts and Sanders has a 3.46 ERA.
Wednesday, September 9th, 1936: Hits Galore! Becker Drills 5 Hits!
Barney Becker got the glory and the headlines today, while the Toledo Mud Hens got the win. The Milwaukee shortstop easily handled Mud Hens pitching, going 5 for 6, but the Brewers came out on the short end of the score 7-6.

He told SION reporters in the postgame interview, "I'm glad I got the hits, but I would trade three or four of 'em for a win...maybe even all 5 of 'em."

The Brewers skipper added, "Well, it's a shame we didn't get the victory today, especially with his standout performance. Let's just hope our team can do better tomorrow."

B. Becker doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI triple in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, walked in the 8th, singled in the 11th and grounded out in the 14th.

Batting .309 to date, Becker has 1 home run and 40 RBIs.
