| Breaking News |  | Tuesday, September 29th, 1936: Kansas City Wins 1936 American Series! The Kansas City Blues ignited a huge celebration as they beat the Louisville Colonels 8-7 to win the American Series.
Kansas City won the series 4-3, capturing the title for the 1st time.
"We stepped it up at the right time...now we're the champs...it's a great feeling," the victorious manager exclaimed to the press.
The champs finished the regular season 90-64 and claimed first place in the West.
In the jubilant clubhouse after the decisive game, the Blues owner proudly stated, "I am so happy for our city. Our great fans deserve this. I just hope they don't tear up the town celebrating too much." |  | Monday, September 7th, 1936: Star of the Week Honored in AA Over the past week, Gabriel Martz has feasted on East pitching. Today the Louisville Colonels left fielder gobbled up the league's latest Player of the Week Award.
Martz swung the bat with purpose all week as he collected a .542 average, 13 hits in 24 at-bats, 3 home runs, 12 RBIs and 7 runs scored.
Thus far this year Martz is hitting .308 with 11 home runs, 71 RBIs and 108 runs scored. |  | Saturday, September 5th, 1936: Turner Has Nagging Injury, Listed DTD Virgil Turner, the talented Louisville star, suffered a strained back muscle yesterday in the game with the Brewers, which could keep him out of today's lineup. "I'm a bit banged up," said the 31-year-old starting pitcher, "but we won't know until game time if I can play or not." Turner got hurt while throwing a pitch. The team doctor said he could be out up to 2 weeks.
