"I hope we miss him next time," the Columbus manager said. "Lee certainly pitched a strong game against us today. He was in a groove, throwing everything for strikes. Throwing hard. Changing speeds."
The Milwaukee starter tamed the Columbus Red Birds 1-0 with a 3-hit shutout, finishing the game with 1 strikeout and 3 walks in a sharp outing.
"I enjoy facing a team like that where I can get an out on one, two or three pitches," Lee said. "It gives me a chance to be a lot more aggressive."
This year Lee has 14 wins and 26 losses and a 5.20 ERA.

Columbus fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Earle Ahner won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 4-year extension at a pay rate of $88,717 per annum.
Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Columbus officials had to keep Ahner from jumping ship.
This year Ahner has compiled a 13-9 record with a 2.75 ERA.

 | Friday, September 4th, 1936: Wilber Lawrence of Columbus Injured, DTD
The topic du jour around Columbus is whether Wilber Lawrence of the Red Birds will suit up for today's contest. He was injured yesterday against the Mud Hens while running the bases. The standout 27-year-old first baseman has a bruised wrist and didn't rule out playing, but did say that if pain persisted, he would not risk further injury.
"Wilber will play if he can," said the team doctor. "He hasn't got a major injury, but at the same time, we need to monitor the situation and protect him as much as possible."
Thus far this year Lawrence has hit .329 with 3 home runs and 40 RBIs.
