SA Triple A 10-01-1936 Home | | | Breaking News |  | Wednesday, September 9th, 1936: West Names Best Hitter Ken Stinson went on a season-long hitting spree against West pitchers and captured the Outstanding Hitter Award for 1936.
The Payne center fielder battered the opposition for 126 hits, 26 doubles, 5 triples, 18 home runs, 71 runs batted in and scored 103 runs. He hit .298 and posted a .418 on-base percentage.
For being named the SAAAA's top hitter, Stinson will be honored at the SION Baseball Writers awards banquet this weekend. |  | Wednesday, September 9th, 1936: Strauss Heads Best Batter List Pretty much all season long Donn Strauss was "locked in the zone" -- that place every batter wants to go. The Turmoil left fielder managed to stay there long enough this season to earn the East Outstanding Hitter Award for 1936.
He assaulted SAAAA pitchers for a .303 batting average, 108 hits, 14 home runs and 72 RBIs while scoring 86 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Tuesday, September 8th, 1936: Piermont's Latham, Outstanding Pitcher Award Winner Quilla Latham of the Piermont Lords had a tremendous season and was chosen the Outstanding Pitcher Award winner in the West.
He crafted a standout 25-12 mark in 45 starts, striking out 138, while walking 113. He worked 366.2 innings, yielded 357 hits and a .260 team batting average and posted a 3.12 ERA.
For his standout season Latham will be honored at the annual SION Baseball Writers Association awards banquet this weekend. | | | | |
