Hard work, long hours and a tireless resolve paid off in the form of the South Outstanding Hitter Award today.
Strong hit for a .330 average and collected 141 hits, 31 doubles, 7 triples, 10 home runs, 62 RBIs and scored 76 times.
This weekend the SBWA will host its annual awards dinner and all of the major winners will be there to receive their trophies for their outstanding achievements this past season. |  | Tuesday, September 8th, 1936: Baker Selected PCLAAA's #1 Batter One of the North's most coveted honors is the Outstanding Hitter Award. When all the votes were tabulated, the 1936 recipient was the standout third baseman of the Bloomington Quicksilvers, Baby-doll Baker.
He starred this season with a .300 batting average, 127 hits, 11 home runs, 80 RBIs, .403 OBP and 65 runs scored.
This weekend Baker will be honored by the SION Baseball Writers Association at its annual awards dinner. |  | Monday, September 7th, 1936: Tucson Hurler Tops in Outstanding Pitcher Award Voting The 1936 South Outstanding Pitcher Award has gone to Tucson Diablos ace Ransom Hicks after a stellar 18-4 season.
In 27 starts he notched 216.2 innings, 104 strikeouts and a 2.62 ERA. Hicks held opposing hitters to a .241 batting average, walking 93.
The SION Baseball Writers Association will present his trophy to him at the annual gathering this weekend. | | | | |
