The Habana Leones concluded the season in grand fashion -- they won the Latino Association Carribean Championship. They nailed it down at La Tropical by whipping the Escogido Leones 9-1 to win it all. They took the series 4-2.
Their motto for the season was "Win or Die Trying".
"They never let up and they never stopped trying the whole season," the Leones manager proudly told reporters. "They hustled and fought the whole season and it continued in the playoffs. They are a very special bunch of guys."
To get their 1st league crown, the Leones finished up the regular season in the Atlantic with a 99-55 record, ending up in first place in the division standings. | | Thursday, September 24th, 1936: Escogido Shut Out by Rodrguez "I felt great out there. After the second or third inning, I got real comfortable," Miguel Rodrguez said in his postgame interview. "Hopefully this is a building block for me. I'm hoping for a few more starts like this."
